This weekend was also a four day weekend. I didn't read much, but I haven't been feeling good lately. So I'm proud to have atleast put in a half hour.
I started out reading this time with Rose talking about getting a job to help the family get a flat of their own. They live with her uncle (her dad's brother) and they do not get along. (I don't remember if I posted that already). She wanders out in the city of New York walking in and out of stores looking for a job. She figures out that they call the immigrants 'greenies'. She finally walks into a store and asks the lady if she has any work. The lady responds with a no but proceeds to give her a peice of paper with a name and address on it. She says to tell this man that Rose knows her. She thanks the lady and walks forever to find the given address. She finally arrives. Walking in, she hears noises coming from all different directions and the building was run down and dark. The paper said apt. 4. There was no apartment 4. She keeps walking. At the end of the hall there was a door with a number 4. She knocks. The man opens the door and invites her in. This is a paper flower making 'factory'. The man and Rose talked and she started working that second.
It was getting late and she had to get back home to her uncle's. When she walked in the door everyone was freeking out because she was gone so long. She talked to her mom about the job and Elsa (her uncle's wife), found out and flipped because she was working in the rundown part of town and she can't have that going around. So ROse and her mom talk about it and Rose ends up bringing work home for the three of them to do.
Total reading time. 30 mins.
